About Us

History and Functions

The 1890 legislative assembly passed pharmacy practice legislation codified as North Dakota Century Code Chapter 43-15. This chapter requires the governor to appoint a state board of pharmacy. The board is responsible for examining and licensing applicants for licensure as pharmacists, for issuing permits to operate pharmacies, and for regulating and controlling the dispensing of prescription drugs and the practice of pharmacy for the protection of the health, welfare and safety of the citizens of the state.

Executive Director

The executive director of the board is appointed by the board and is responsible for administration of the activities of the board. Inquiries regarding the board may be addressed to Executive Director, Mark J. Hardy.

Board Members

The board consists of five pharmacist members, one registered pharmacy technician member and one public member all who are appointed by the governor. Board members serve five-year terms, with at least one term expiring each year.
